As the season approached a fast and soon close everyone knew that LSU was dominate and something special. Joe burrow led the dangerous offense to the number one ranking in college football as well as the number one seed in the college football playoff. LSU dominated Oklahoma with a baffling score of 63 to 28 with Joe Burrow having an insane 8 total touchdowns, and with this dominate win they earned their spot in the 2020 national championship. The rest was history.
On the other side was the reigning national champions at the time Clemson Tigers who went undefeated and won the ACC. Although they were dominate in their conference for the most part with one close game coming from North Carolina people were very skeptical of the Tigers. Were they the same team they were 10 months ago? Could they compete against the top teams and keep up? Regardless they earned the third seed in the college football playoff and went on to play Ohio State and upset them 29-23. Earing them the other spot in the national championship.
Both teams came into this game confident in their offenses on one side with LSU you had Joe Burrow reining Heisman winner Ja’Marr Chase the NCAA receiving leader and tight end Thaddeus Moss son of NFL legend Randy Moss. On the other side the Clemson Tigers have true sophomore Trevor Lawrence leading the team with his undefeated college record with running back Travis Etienne in the backfield with him and the dangerous Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross split out wide.
With those kinds of offenses people were expecting fireworks but the beginning of the game was anything but that LSU on the first two drives didn’t even get past there own thirty it was a defensive struggle. Finally, Clemson punched it in off a short touchdown run from Trevor Lawrence taking a seven zero lead.
As the game went on Clemson started to pull away as they went up 17-7 but the tigers finally settled in being able to take the lead right before half as Joe Burrow had a couple touchdown passes in the first half.
The second half started the way it ended with LSU on the gas and as the game came closer to the end, they could smell the blood as they scored to go up 17 with ten minutes left in the game. Clemson hadn’t been able to do anything all half and when LSU went up by 17 it was the last straw and Clemson was done. LSU rode out the last few minutes taking in that they had just won the 2020 national championship.
As the game clock hit zero people broke out in celebration some in tears of joy and the other Tigers had to go home with the loss. LSU was dominate all year with much thanks to Joe Burrow leading their offense. This might go down as one of the best college football teams ever and definitely one of the greatest offenses ever.
