Wrestling is all about self-reliance when you wrestle you have to focus on how your opponent moves, looks, and takes his shots. Wrestling has impacted my life in many ways but one of the most defining ones is how much it has disciplined me throughout my years. Wrestling has taught me everything I know today, self-reliance, discipline, hard work, and how to be a good person. Everything.

In 2008 I found myself getting drafted on the USA wrestling team, I went into it young so I didn’t think much of it but after it started and we were going for about two to three weeks I realized how much time and dedication that you have to put into it, all the time you spend practicing and spending all the time in the world perfecting every move.

Wrestling has had a huge impact on my life, from not knowing anything about the sport to knowing a whole lot. Wrestling runs in my family, my dad and all of his brothers did it all through Junior High, High School and some of college. The reason my dad wanted to get me into wrestling is because he wanted me to learn on my own what self-reliance and being a genuinely good person is, and that’s exactly what it did.

I’m so grateful that my dad has gotten me into this sport, even though you have to sacrifice a lot of things like eating what you want, not going over to a friend’s house just to go to a tournament. It was really hard to do but it all pays off in the end, trust me. One of the hardest things that you have to overcome over-time is just trusting yourself and knowing what to do in any sort of situation that you get caught up in.
